Program Description
Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a highly effective method for reducing HIV transmission, yet overall use remains low. Prescribing same-day PrEP is an approach that show great promise in increasing PrEP uptake. Implementing same-day PrEP can help healthcare providers decrease the drop-off rates often seen in conventional care models, where delays in receiving prescriptions after evaluation can reduce the initiation of PrEP. During this training session, Alex Camp, PA-C and Hailey Keeser, PharmD from Vivent Health will review two patient case studies and discuss safe and effective ways to implement same day PrEP.

Session Objectives
• Evaluate a patient’s eligibility for same day HIV PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis)
• Analyze and select appropriate PrEP medication(s) and plan based on the patient’s individual needs and medical guidelines.
• Describe effective counseling skills to educate patients for same day PrEP.
• Develop a monitoring plan for patients on PrEP.

Intended Audience
Medical providers, including MDs, DOs, PAs, NPs, RNs and MAs, involved in HIV PrEP prescribing.
