PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis) in rural healthcare settings. Leah Eckhart
is a dedicated and compassionate nursing professional with over 20 years
nursing experience and serves as the Forensic Nursing Program
Coordinator at Ascension. Her role involves coordinating specialized care
through the Forensic Nurse Examiner Program, ensuring that patients
receive the highest level of medical forensic care. Leah places great value
on her time spent in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, as well as
providing education to her community partners.

Participants will be able to:
• Define the scope of forensic nursing practice and identify the
patient populations served.
• Analyze geographic and systemic barriers that limit equitable
forensic healthcare delivery in rural communities and propose
collaborative, multidisciplinary strategies to overcome them.
• Formulate actionable protocols to improve access to HIV postexposure
prophylaxis through collaborative efforts.
