Positive Sexuality Series
The seventh and final session in MATEC-Wisconsin’s 2022-2023 Positive Sexuality Series on LGBTQ+ inclusive health care, Transgender & Non-binary Healthcare for Behavioral Health Providers, is a training which aids behavioral health providers in more effectively supporting transgender and non-binary patients, whether they have HIV or not.
- Participants are encouraged to review the SOGI 101: Understanding Sexual Orientation & Gender Identity to Improve Patient Care archived webinar prior to attending this event. This will provide a baseline of knowledge about sexual orientation and gender identity which will be beneficial.
This activity is intended for behavioral health and mental health providers, including but not limited to psychologists, counselors, and social workers. Others involved in HIV/STI care are welcome to participate.
As a result of attending this activity, participants will be able to:
1.Identify best practices for creating an inclusive behavioral healthcare environment for transgender and non-binary clients.
2.Demonstrate understanding of HIV prevalence inequities in gender minority populations.
3.Summarize the theoretical frameworks which inform recommendations for practice.
4.Choose strategies to build resiliency for addressing stigma and promoting healing and connection.
5.Identify strategies for exploring pleasure-oriented sexuality.
All participants are asked to register individually, even if they plan to view the webinar from a shared screen or in a group setting.
